Viniyoga has been shown to be an effective therapy in the treatment of low back pain.
Karen Sherman's first randomized trial compared yoga to usual therapy for low back pain: http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=718899&resultClick=3.

Susan Krantz is a Viniyoga certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor, and Level II Reiki practitioner.  Susan has 15 years experience working in therapeutic settings offering instructive classes for a variety of theraputic applications such as: to alleviate back pain, strengthen the back, reduce stress, relax and renew, breathe deeper, and improve sleep. The intention is to teach yoga and Ayurveda-based seasonal practices in private or group classes to meet the specific needs of the student. Depending on interest and need, the practice can include: āsanas (postures), prāņāyāma (breathing), chanting (sound), meditation, visualization techniques, and śavāsana (rest). Susan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Textile Design, Summa cum Laude, 1990, at Framingham State College. Her passion to teach yoga is a direct result of recovering from a shoulder injury via yoga therapy and from studying how the drape of fabric and clothing reflects the posture and poise of an individual.

Susan’s soul is soothed by spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, cooking, quilting,     walking, reading, and traveling.  For more information, visit: http://www.viniyogajourney.com/
